Filament is passionate about helping people to turn their knowledge or intellectual property into products and income. Words are the building blocks of so many products. This is why, through our Publishing Division, we work with authors to help them get into print and to use their books as a stepping stone to achieve their business objectives. So having created the book, very often an author will then be asked to speak to groups about their specialist subject. From these live events come a further opportunity to create companion products to their book.

By recording every word you speak to a live audience, you can build up an invaluable resource of material that can be repurposed into a number of other products. Firstly, you can get the recording transcribed into a text document which then gives you material for a workbook for people attending your seminars. You could use the recording to create a Podcast, or an audio CD product.

By getting your live event recorded on video, providing it is done professionally with good lighting and a radio mic, you now have additional opportunities to create products. The video material could be used as a videostream on your website to enable people to see what you are like. You could use extracts of the recording as a video clip in an online open learning programme which you could sell on your website. In addition, you could create product DVDs which you could be selling at the back of the room.
